Carved Vintage Book Art
In June 2021, the Friends found a creative way to upcycle the hundreds of vintage Reader’s Digest condensed books donated to our bookstore. The books are carved into letters, animals, and other popular designs and sold as book art. We have sold nearly a thousand of these unique art objects, saving the previously undesirable books from the landfill and giving them new life.
The Friends currently sell the carved vintage books locally at book sales and vendor events. They can also be ordered at the Lebanon Public Library or online with the order form below. Shipping is available within the United States. Online invoices are sent out via PayPal Goods & Services. Shipping and handling fees apply.
We happily accept donations of hardcover fiction Reader's Digest condensed books so we can continue this fundraising program.
Merchandise
In 2023, the Friends opened a print-on-demand shop with Redbubble and, in 2024, we expanded to TeePublic. We have more than 30 fun bookish designs available on dozens of items. Below is a small example of available designs and merchandise. We've sold over a hundred items to people around the world including Australia, Canada, Portugal, and the United Kingdom. The Friends receive a percentage of every sale made from our shops.
